BAHUT SCOPE HAI BHAI..!! Well... the memory trail goes back to 2004 when I first heard about the so called scope of Biotechnology with an excellent stats of placements from different institutions. And as it happened to all my colleagues, the pseudo placement stats made me crazy about this Biotech stuff followed by day dreams of earning 40K immediately after graduation and blah blah....! Who Qualifies to be a Producer under Geographical Indications Act??

Article 22.1 of TRIPS Agreement refers to the term Geographical Indications as - "...indications which identify a good as originating in the territory of a country, or a region or locality in that territory, where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the good is essentially attributable to its geographical origin." On 15th September, 2015, the Geographical Indications Act, 1999 celebrated its 12th birthday since the day of enforcement, Unfortunately, it is still considered to be in its initial stages. The issues of Food security, storage subsidies and peace clause are going heat up the negotiations during the World Trade Organization (WTO) 10 th Ministerial Conference scheduled during 15-18 December 2015, at the KICC in Nairobi, Kenya. India had taken a firm stand on the issues at hand stand during the previous Ministerial Conference held in 2013 at Bali, Indonesia. If India manages to get support during this ministerial conference then it will be considered as one of the major political success.
